1920's Pyrography Hair Ribbon Rack Women in Cloche Hat Flemish Art As Is

From my own collection.

A very sweet 1920's pyrography hair ribbon wooden rack with a women in a cloche hat with roses. It measures 11" long and 6" wide. Each sides looks like petunias.

A little info on pyrography:

"Pyrography or pyrogravure is the free handed art of decorating wood or other materials with burn marks resulting from the controlled application of a heated object such as a poker. It is also known as pokerwork or wood burning.

The term means "writing with fire", from the Greek pyr (fire) and graphos (writing). Pyrography dates from the 17th century and reached its highest standard in the 19th century."

The wood is extremely light weight. A very delicate piece.

The design on the back reminds me of alligator skin.

The wear just makes it more endearing.

Wonderful piece to hang in the boudoir next to your vanity. I wouldn't hang anything from this rack unless it is light weight ribbons.

It does have a few issues.

I found a hairline crack that looks like there is a little glue on the left side.

View 4th photo. The string holder needs to be replaced, which is no big whoop to add a new piece of cord. The ribbon bar has some sort of residue? and what looks like and a small crack. (3rd and 5th photo)

There is a little square shape that is lighter in color shade near the front of her hat. View 3rd photo. Not bothersome. Sold "as is" and all sales are final.
