VERY RARE Union And New Haven Trust Bank Employee Patch Connecticut Memorabilia

This is a very rare Union and New Haven Trust bank employee uniform patch. The threading depicts the building and cupola on the top of the building and the words "The Trust Company." This bank was located on the corner of Elm and Church Street in New Haven and was built in 1927.

This patch was saved by my Dad (who passed at age 93) who used to work at this bank. His office was in the front of the building and faced the New Haven Green. When he worked there, it was called the Union and New Haven Trust. (UNHT)

Not sure if this patch was worn by an elevator employee who my Dad was very friendly with or it was worn by another department.

As a kid, I remember how simply GORGEOUS the bank lobby was with its black and white checkered floors and the tall gilded teller cages.

"The building's golden cupola intentionally mirrors that of the Green's United Church. The building was the tallest in New Haven when it opened.

The bank was purchased in 1995 by First Union Corporation, which later took the name of its Wachovia acquisition and in 2010 merged into Wells Fargo. The building's ground floor is still occupied by a Wells Fargo branch.

In 2014 it was converted into residences and renamed The Union.

The patch measures 3" long. Appears to be dark green wool and is hand stitched. I have never seen another one like it. Wonderful piece for the bank memorabilia collector.

Time to pass it on to a collector who will enjoy it.
