Victorian Opal Locket Mourning Antique Jewelry Something Old

Victorian mourning photo locket with seed pearls, opal and red paste stones. There is a missing red paste stone and the other one has a chip.

The interior has two places for photos. The rings are marked J.M.F. and Co. and they pop out to place photos. I was surprised to see that one of the paper circles behind the plastic circles had and American flag on it. It measures 1 1/4" across.

The locket has some finish wear to the back and some dark areas on the inside. And it will not close will all the paper inserts put in place that you see in the photos. If you take them all out, it will snap closed tight. I think one of the "rings" is a little bent and is keeping it from closing. OR there is just too many paper inserts. At any rate, this locket is of course being sold as is. I will ship it with the locket, inserts and papers apart and the locket open.

Still a very sweet piece. I would have the paste stones removed and add more seed pearls by a jeweler. Perhaps you can get it re-plated as well. It would make a lovely "something old" piece for your wedding day.
